Tecno launched the Tecno Spark 7 series in April 2021 to succeed the Tecno Spark 6 series which they had launched in 2020. Tecno also included a new ‘p‘ variant in the Spark 7 series which is not something they had done in the previous Spark series. Probably only in the Spark 6 series where they introduced the Spark 6S. Anyway, the Tecno Spark 7 series has 3 variants, the Tecno Spark 7, Spark 7p, and the Spark 7 Pro. This series brings new a display feature that is not in the previous Spark series phones but was in the Camon series phones.
The base model (Tecno Spark 7) is the cheapest of the 3 smartphones in the Spark 7 series. With this also comes less pleasing specs but there is one thing they all have in common. The main camera and the selfie camera are all the same megapixels on all the 3 phones. However, the Spark 7 is smaller in size when compared to the Spark 7p due to the smaller display. It is also a bit thicker which is probably because it has a slightly bigger battery.

On the other hand, the Tecno Spark 7p features better specs than the base model. It boasts a bigger display and the ‘new’ feature on the Spark 7 series. The phone has a higher screen refresh rate and is also powered by a mid-range gaming chipset which according to our review, holds up pretty well in terms of gaming and day-to-day tasks. It also comes with more RAM and a battery which is slightly smaller than that of the base model. However, the lack of proper fast charging on the Spark 7p proves to be very unsatisfactory. The 5000 mAh battery takes over 3 hours to get a full charge which is terrible. The base model is even worse as it has a 6000 mAh battery and still lacks fast charging. Apart from these few inconveniences, the Spark 7p proves to be a good smartphone with a satisfactory battery life of over a full day on one full charge.
